Euronews is a European television news network, headquartered in Lyon, France. The network began broadcasting on 1 January 1993 and aimed to cover world news from the European perspective.
It is partly owned by several European and North African public and state-owned broadcasting organizations, with the majority (88%) owned by Portuguese investment management firm Alpac Capital. Mário David, the father of Pedro Vargas David (CEO of Alpac Capital), is a long-time associate, advisor and friend to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
